The Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) Score Calculator is a tool designed to assess the risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma over five years, based on specific ocular and demographic factors. Users provide input for five key parameters:

- Age
- Mean intraocular pressure (average of three measurements per eye)
- Mean central corneal thickness (average of three measurements per eye)
- Mean vertical cup-to-disc ratio by contour
- Mean pattern standard deviation

Each parameter is classified into distinct categories, with each category assigned a corresponding point value:

1. Age:
   - 30-44 years: 0 points
   - 45-54 years: 1 point
   - 55-64 years: 2 points
   - 65-74 years: 3 points
   - 75 years or older: 4 points

2. Mean intraocular pressure (mmHg):
   - Less than 22 mmHg: 0 points
   - 22-23 mmHg: 1 point
   - 24-25 mmHg: 2 points
   - 26-28 mmHg: 3 points
   - 28 mmHg or more: 4 points

3. Mean central corneal thickness (micrometers):
   - 525 micrometers or less: 4 points
   - 526-550 micrometers: 3 points
   - 551-575 micrometers: 2 points
   - 576-600 micrometers: 1 point
   - More than 600 micrometers: 0 points

4. Mean vertical cup-to-disc ratio by contour:
   - Less than 0.3: 0 points
   - 0.3-0.39: 1 point
   - 0.4-0.49: 2 points
   - 0.5-0.59: 3 points
   - 0.6 or greater: 4 points

5. Mean pattern standard deviation (dB):
   - Less than 1.8 dB: 0 points
   - 1.8-1.9 dB: 1 point
   - 2.0-2.3 dB: 2 points
   - 2.4-2.7 dB: 3 points
   - 2.8 dB or greater: 4 points

After categorizing each input and assigning points, the scores are summed to produce a total score. This total score then corresponds to the likelihood of developing primary open-angle glaucoma within five years:

- A total score between 0 and 6 suggests a risk of 4% or less.
- A total score between 7 and 8 indicates a 10% risk.
- A total score between 9 and 10 corresponds to a 15% risk.
- A total score between 11 and 12 suggests a 20% risk.
- A total score greater than 12 signifies a risk of 33% or more.

The Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) score for primary open-angle glaucoma is a clinical calculator used in ophthalmology. It is specifically designed for patients with ocular hypertension, a condition characterized by higher than normal pressure in the eyes, which can potentially lead to glaucoma. 

The OHTS score is used to predict the 5-year risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), one of the most common types of glaucoma. The OHTS score should not be used in patients with already diagnosed glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, or other eye diseases that could affect intraocular pressure. It is also not applicable to patients with normal intraocular pressure.
