Syphilis
What's new
The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) has released an update on the use of doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis for the prevention of syphilis. Prophylaxis is recommended for cisgender gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM), and transgender women (TGW) at high risk of acquiring syphilis. It is also suggested for victims of sexual assault presenting for clinical care within 72 hours. A single 200 mg dose should be administered within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours after sexual exposure. .
